Podium finish for Glenn Irwin at Donington Park

With the 2017 British Superbike Championship now in full swing we were pleased to hear that Ducati rider Glenn Irwin has taken a podium finish, coming in third place in Race 2 in the first round at Donington Park.

Glenn commented, “I sat back for a little bit and I saw Peter start to drop, made a move on him. I saw Luke and Christian catching Ellison which was for the podium position. James kept them guys behind him for a lap, he was obviously struggling with the tyre quite badly. I really started to hammer on then and bang the 29s in which for me was good in that stage of the race. I was saying to Leon earlier that Dad always told me if you’ve time to think about a move you’ve time to do it. So I did that on Luke. Starting the last lap I was maybe 2 or 3 bike lengths behind Christian and I thought about him into turn 1. So if I’d thought about it I went for it and got back by him.”

Teammate, Shane Byrne, was ruled out of the first round after suffering a concussion but hopes to return to the racing in round two.
